The Pride and Remembrance Association is seeking individuals to join our volunteer Board of Directors. In these roles, you will roll up your sleeves to help plan, manage and execute the 2025 pride & remembrance run. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about contributing to the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and/or have experience as part of the running community.

Available Board Roles:

  • Marketing Directors (1 role available): Responsible for decision making for all creative, advertising and marketing activities for the pride & remembrance run. This team will work with colleagues in Sponsorship, Website and Social Media to plan and execute an integrated campaign. The Marketing Directors will be responsible for increasing brand awareness and reaching our audience in engaging ways. These individuals will also be responsible for creative concepts and liaising with suppliers to create and order branded materials for the event. Experience with copywriting is an asset to this role.

  • Social Media Directors (2 roles available): Responsible for developing, managing and executing the social media program for the pride & remembrance run. This team will sit on the Marketing Committee and work with colleagues in Marketing, Website and Sponsorship to create and deliver an integrated online presence. They will manage our @priderunto IG account and engage in various ways with our followers as well as create content that represents the pride & remembrance run's goals and objectives.

  • Media & Communications Director (1 role available): Responsible for overseeing media relations, strategic communications, and stakeholder relations activities in the lead-up to the pride & remembrance run. This role will prepare and execute a comprehensive tactical plan to ensure maximum media coverage by building strong relationships with a variety of media outlets (print, online, broadcast), as well as acting as an official spokesperson in print and broadcast media in the lead-up to and on event day on the day of the run. Experience in journalism, public relations or media management are essential to this role.

  • Secretary (1 role available): Responsible for supporting board meetings, accurately recording key information and decisions made, as well as managing the operational calendar to ensure all milestones are being met in the lead-up to the pride & remembrance run. Experience and understanding of the structure, purpose and governance of the non-profit organizations are essential to this role.

The Pride and Remembrance Association is committed to including diverse perspectives on our Board discussions, ensuring that our Board is reflective of the community we serve. Time Commitment:

Board Members should be able to commit between 4-7 hours per week, dependent on role and time of year.

About the Pride and Remembrance Association

The Pride and Remembrance Association (PRA) is a leading non-profit, volunteer-run organization dedicated to supporting Toronto’s 2SLGBTQ+ community. The PRA brings the community together in pride, celebration, and solidarity by organizing the annual pride & remembrance run during Toronto’s iconic Pride Weekend every June.

Since 1996, more than 50,000 people have participated in the Run in the heart of the city’s Church-Wellesley Village. Over the past 28 years, The PRA has raised over $3.3 million dollars benefitting more than two dozen 2SLGBTQ+ organizations across Canada.



About the Run

The pride & remembrance run is a fundraising 5K run and 3K walk organized and operated by the philanthropic and athletic-oriented PRA. The pride & remembrance run is a unique annual athletic event during Toronto's Pride Week, promoting and fostering community spirit, goodwill, volunteerism, and sportsmanship in the Canadian 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Founded in 1996 in Toronto, Canada, the event is the largest, longest-running and most fun Pride run in Canada.
