Toronto’s pride & remembrance run returns on June 28
Celebrate Pride Month’s only annual athletic event in the heart of Toronto’s gay village.
TORONTO, April 7, 2025 – Toronto’s pride & remembrance run returns to Toronto’s gay village on Saturday, June 28, for its fabulous 29th year.
Join us for our 5K or 3K run/walk/roll/sashay and kids’ race during Pride celebrations. Canadians across the country can also participate virtually in the country’s biggest 2SLGBTQ+ focused run.
Mark your calendars! Registration opens April 8 at noon and this hot ticket will likely sell out in a flash.
Our much-anticipated after party in Barbara Hall Park with drag queens, DJs, rainbows, and more, always wraps up the run with style.
Our theme, “remember your why,” places equal importance on pride and remembrance by celebrating the history of our 2SLGBTQ+ community and forging a path forward to combat the ongoing inequities faced by and hate targeted at our community.
"With increasing political rhetoric threatening our 2SLGBTQ+ community, our strength comes from standing together. More than ever, we need to lift each other up, celebrate our resilience, and show the world that love, inclusion, and solidarity will prevail,” said Jonathan Iu, president of the Pride and Remembrance Association.
“The pride & remembrance run is more than just a race — it’s a powerful statement of unity, a celebration of diversity in sports, and support for organizations improving the lives of 2SLGBTQ+ individuals in the GTA. Here in Canada, we will continue to show up for one another, because that’s who we are,” added Iu.
The pride & remembrance run theme’s emphasis on intersectionality is highlighted by the diverse projects chosen as the beneficiaries of this year’s participants’ fundraising efforts:
Women’s College Hospital Foundation’s Transition-Related Surgeries Compassionate Fund
Sherbourne Health Centre’s Resilient Roots program which trains Black, African, Caribbean, and multi-racial 2SLGBTQ+ youth with lived experience to become peer support mentors.
Sunshine Centres for Seniors’ Rainbow Seniors OUT and About Together program which promotes healthy active living and community engagement for 2SLGBTQIA+ seniors in Toronto.
The Pride and Remembrance Foundation, which serves as the charitable arm of the pride & remembrance run.
Since 1996, the pride & remembrance run is proud to have raised $3.3 million for dozens of charitable organizations across the Greater Toronto Area and around Canada. We look forward to participants helping us surpass this year’s fundraising goal of $325,000.
The run is made possible by registration fees and the generous support of many sponsors, including BMO, which returns as our platinum sponsor this year. Every single cent of our fundraising dollars goes to our beneficiaries. So, get your run group, sports team, co-workers, family members, friends and more involved in your fundraising endeavors! Follow us and our awesome ambassadors on Instagram for training and fundraising inspiration.
We all run for a reason. Remember your why!
