Different types of activities you could get involved with include:

Course Marshall
Pre-race commitment – check in with volunteer coordinator via email.
Race day commitment – 8:30 arrival time. Finished by 11:30.
Duties: Supervise assigned area – usually a high traffic area of the street. Be aware of non-runners, media, traffic – be prepared to clear the street before and while runners on the course. Be aware of police presence in the area, direct concerns to them as appropriate. Flag medical response team if emergency occurs on course (eg. injured runner). Cheer on runners and walkers as they pass. When last runner has passed your station, commence clean-up – remove banners, debris etc.

Start/Finish line
Pre-race commitment – check in with volunteer coordinator via email.
Race day commitment – 9:00 arrival time. Finished by 12:00.
Duties: Assist with corralling runners pre-race, encourage placement of runners towards the right side or back of crowd, assist stage crew as required. Requires some lifting and moving of water bottles and other equipment.  Distribute water to runners at finish line, encourage them to quickly clear the area and return to 519 for after party.

After Party Volunteer
Pre-race commitment – check in with volunteer coordinator via email.
Race day commitment – 9:00 arrival time. Finished by 12:30.
Duties: Assist with set-up of after party area, organize food and drink areas, assist after party crew as required. Requires some lifting and moving of water bottles, food and other equipment.   Commence clean-up when awards ceremony has wrapped up.

Bag check
Pre-race commitment – check in with volunteer coordinator via email.
Race day commitment – 8:30 arrival time. Finished by 12:30.
Duties: Assist with the checking of runners bags in the 519. Assist in returning them post-race. Support clean-up when awards ceremony has wrapped up.

Floater
Pre-race commitment – check in with volunteer coordinator via email.
Race day commitment – 9:00 arrival time. Finished by 12:30.
Duties: Support race as needed.  May be required to take on a variety of roles throughout the race duration.

Pre-Race Promotion
Pre-race commitment – 3 hours on a date and time to be determined
Race day commitment – None
Duties: Raise awareness of the run by handing out flyers outside Wellesley subway station, and dropping off information for local businesses and residences.  Date to be determined.

Registration / Race Kit Pick-up
Pre-race commitment – Check in with volunteer coordinator via email.  Race kit pick-up will take place on the days leading up to the Run.  We are looking for volunteers to assist each day either between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm, 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm, or 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm (you may work as many shifts as you wish).  Race day commitment – 8:00 am arrival time. Finished by 11:00 am.  Duties: Assist with the assembly of race kit bags.  Distribute race kits and t-shirts for all Pride and Remembrance Run participants.  Help with the on-site/late registration of participants if there are still spots available in the event.  Answer any event specific questions participants may have.

Water Station
Pre-race commitment – Check in with volunteer coordinator via email.
Race Day commitment – 8:30 arrival time. Finished by 12:00.
Duties: Assist with setup of water tables on Queens Park Circle. Fill water glasses and distribute to runners on course. Commence clean-up when last runner has passed through the water station. Assist with returning leftover water and tables to the 519.
