Toronto, Ontario (March 12, 2018)

The Pride and Remembrance Run is proud to announce the following four organizations as beneficiaries of Toronto’s 23rd Pride and Remembrance Run: Women’s College Hospital Foundation, the Canadian Lesbian Gay Archives, the LGBT Youth Line, and the Pride and Remembrance Foundation. These organizations will receive 100% of funds raised through pledges and donations made by our 2018 runners and donors.

The Pride and Remembrance Run is an fun, annual community run promoting and fostering community spirit, goodwill and sportsmanship in the LGBTQ+ community. The 5km run or 3km walk will take place on Saturday, June 23th, 2018, during Toronto Pride Week. The Pride Run raises much needed funds for LGBTQ+ charities and initiatives. Over the past 22 years, the Pride and Remembrance Association has raised over $1.4 million for local charities that support the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.

The 2018 Pride and Remembrance Run beneficiaries are:

Women’s College Hospital Foundation The Transition-Related Surgery Compassionate Fund
The Transition-Related Surgery Compassionate Fund will help offset the significant additional costs incurred by trans people as they complete their transitional surgeries at Women’s College Hospital.

LGBT Youth Line LGBT Youth-Connect
LGBT Youth Connect aims to address the lack of support and resources for 2SLGBTQ grassroots groups and youth leaders across Ontario, especially in rural and suburban areas, through a centralized web-based hub for peer networking, skill-sharing, collaborations, and resources.

Canadian Lesbian Gay Archives Digital Hub
The Digital Hub Project will address the currently outdated and inefficient cataloguing databases with one single digital database. This new database will enable researchers and members of the community to access the CLGA’s collections online and will provide new opportunities for exhibitions and greater access.

Pride and Remembrance Foundation
The Pride and Remembrance Foundation is the charitable foundation responsible for the distribution of funds raised by the annual Pride and Remembrance Run. The Foundation’s mandate is to provide financial support to registered charities that benefit the LGBT community. The Foundation accepts applications for financial assistance from registered charities throughout the year.
